Windsurfing: Avon Beach Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: F6 Surf / Sea State: Choppy Air Temperature: 24 Sea Temperature: 19 Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got there early, having stayed from night before - 9! People were out, on
5.0s, slightly more WSW today with clear windshadow so short blob and then
zoooooom. Rigged 4.7 and 102, on the basis that it wasn't as windy as
yesterday and I felt like taking it easy. Quite surprised by the
windstrength! Experimented a lot with tuning which was very interesting -
the 4.7 ended up v floppy and flat, on max down/outhaul.
However, personal performance a bit useless gybe-wise, suspect I was
over-sailed, as I didn't change the sail all day, which was maybe a
mistake. I did however change to the 77l later on, which helped a lot,
especially with jumps. Did however have fun, even if I was berating myself
for being crap, which in retrospect I wasn't. Just need to practise
manoeuvres in light winds before trying them for real in very strong ones
and be realistic about what's achievable in those conditions.
And it was a lovely day!!
